Newcastle Staffs v Tendring Mens 1st

25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 26-24

Tendring and Newcastle staff started the first set with very good passing stats which helped Tendring leading by 6-8 and 14-16 at the technical time outs. Both teams attacked hard on the wings with Kosta Yiannakkos and Conor Walker using their height advantages. After the second technical time out Staffs put the pressure on Tendring by using their wing hitters and won the first set by 25-22. The second set was a lot like the first one with Tendring recycling a lot of balls and leading the set until the second technical, Gary House and Erik Halberg both connected well with Owen Lamb but again the Staffs won the set 25-22.

The third set started with Staffs leading to the first technical time out by 8-7. Tendring with a service and blocking pressure got the lead with four points up 12-16, Stuart Dove’s attacks from back court in conjunction with Jack Bruce’s defense skill  helped Tendring win the third set by 22-25 making the score 1-2.

 

The fourth and final set was the longest one with many rallies and many recycling balls from both teams with Tendring leading 6-8 and 15-16. After the second technical the teams played a very good and professional game with Staffs be more concentrate at the details and getting the set 26-24.
