BIRMINGHAM 0 – 3 TENDRING LADIES

12-25, 15-25, 21-25
Report by Amy Lane

On Saturday 20th January Tendring Ladies set out early to travel to Birmingham. When the two teams met earlier in the season Birmingham had been victorious so Tendring were looking to even the score.

Tendring were without their player/coach Colleen King who was out with concussion, but they started strongly and with some big hitting from Mechell Daniel and a strong nine point serving run from Charlotte Bontems they soon closed out the first set 25:12.

Tendring started the second set as they had finished the first, with Lena Bitadou strong in defence and Molly Van Essen distributing the ball well to her hitters. They kept the pressure up, not letting Birmingham get into their game, and closed the set out comfortably 25:15.

At the start of the third set Tendring lost a bit of concentration and a few errors crept in. This allowed Birmingham to gain some momentum and they went into the first technical time out 8:6 ahead. Some strong serving and defensive play from Daniel helped Tendring get back into the lead and with a determined effort from the whole team they managed to hold onto that lead and close out the match, winning the final set 25:21.
