After a hard fought game Friday night Tendring women’s volleyball team lost 0-3 (13:25, 20:25, 24:26) against Durham, which was played at home in the brand new sports arena at Essex University. We came into the game feeling confident as a team, wanting to get back onto our winning streak.

Tendring Ladies began slower than usual. However, Tendring did not give up, which meant that there started to be longer rallies between both teams. Durham had some strong front court hitters which were dominating at the net. The first set ended with Durham winning 25-13.

In the second set Tendring was able to start stronger; we started passing much better and put more service pressure onto Durham. Colleen King was able to come back onto the court after being injured since the beginning of January. This helped our team become more positive and keep up the fight. Lois Chitticks was also introduced in the second set and was able to maintain our performance and energy on the court. In spite of this Durham was able to take the lead at the end and managed to win 25-20.

In the third set Tendring did not want to give up and started to become more aggressive on the service line and at the net.  Tendring was able to block better improving the teams overall defense. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and Durham was able to grasp the third set 26-24.

The double header weekend was the last games of the regular season. Tendring ended the season 6th in the league, which means that they will now play the 4th seeded team called London Orcas on the weekend of April 7/8th. Tendring hope to win this game to make it through to the semi-finals in the top national league in England!!!
