Tendring fought strongly in the beginning of their game against rivals London Orcas. The set started shaky with the Orcas leading, but the combination of tough service by Amber Erhahon and smart and stable offence by Piyusha Boteju sold the lead to the Tendring Ladies.

The points on offence were dominated by the team’s pins: Mechell Daniel, Ellie Cranch and Kat Raicevic, securing kills throughout to take the set 25-17.

The second set of the game was in Tendring’s control throughout, showing a high level of sophistication. The resilient mentality and cohesion of the team was boosted by Milly Smith’s two kills, bouncing past the libero within the first 5 points of the set. Meanwhile Lena Bitadou, Tendring’s consistent and feisty libero, took control of the passing and defensive units, enabling setter Piyusha Boteju to run a creative offence through the whole of the set. Again, this set was dominated by the Tendring Ladies, who took it 25-14.

In the final set of the game, an awesome block defensive side to the team shone through. Kill blocks were taken by everyone one on court – with the exception of libero Lena Bitadou of course. As the win drew closer, setter Piyusha Boteju secured a 5 point service run to TAKE THE GAME. Although she did not succumb to external pressures of ‘spin to win’ on the final point, she showed the elite level of consistency to defeat London Orcas 25-15 in the final set of the match.

Overall, Tendring showed their best against London Orcas, defeating them with consistent levels of passion and determination through the whole of the team. GO TENDRING :)
