Tendring Ladies Academy 30th October

Due to the International NEVZA competition being hosted by Volleyball England the Tendring Senior teams did not play this weekend and it was left to the Tendring Juniors to provide the entertainment.

The initial match of 2 home Women’s Division 3 fixtures was against Dulwich Tuskers who came down from Division 2 last season. Unbeaten this year Tuskers were forced to play at the top of their game as Tendring took the first set 25-18. Set 2 saw a different Tuskers and a 7 point serving run saw them comfortably finish the set 12-25. The more experienced Tuskers must have thought the young Tendring team would crumble but far from it as Tendring, in a very entertaining encounter, were very close in both of the following sets losing 3-1 (25-18, 12-25, 23-25, 20-25).

Ashcombe Dorking were the next opponents and Tendring played them off the court in the 1st set thanks to a 15 point serving run from Amy Lane. However Dorking recovered well and settled down to win a tight 2nd set 24-26. It was Tendring’s turn to show character and this they were able to do maintaining control of the next 2 sets taking the match 3-1 (25-3, 24-26, 25-17, 25-11).

Charlotte Bontem was voted Most Valuable Player by the opposition in both matches.

The Academy are away next weekend playing Richmond VC and Sussex Dolphins.

Essex University will be the November 5th venue for Tendring Men 2 and the Ladies Super 8 team from 14:30 playing London Aces and Wessex respectfully.

A further double match on 6th November, at Tendring Technology College from 13:00, with the Ladies playing Salford and the Men 2 playing London Lynx.

Spectators welcome with parking and entrance free as always, see the Facebook page for more details.
