On Sunday 3rd October the Tendring women’s first team travelled to Cambridge University for a round 3 cup game against Cambridge. Tendring women won the game successfully 3-0 (25-18, 25-8, 25-13).

The first set began with a rocky start, after a small service run from Cambridge and a timeout the team managed to arrange their passing unit to get a 3 point pass for Mechell Daniel to kill the ball. This led to Molly Van Essen getting a service run and pushing the team ahead and winning the set 25-18.

The second set started strong with another service run from Molly Van Essen, unfortunately after losing the point the team’s energy dropped causing them to lose some of points, however Skye Gullat then had a service run. Charlotte Bontems came on for Colleen King, the team went on to win the set playing well with service runs, hustle and smart play when attacking, with the end score of 25-8.

The third and final set against Cambridge, began with a slightly different line up with Lois Chitticks and Charlotte Bontems. The team started strong with Lois Chitticks using her options with Mechell Daniel killing balls and Skye Gullat running a variety of balls in the middle. Sarah Edwards come on for Emily Bell, she came on and showed good offence as well as defence. As Tendring received free balls, they managed to recycle the ball with a kill. Tendring went on to play their game and win with the last set of 25-13.

Overall, Tendring played well in all aspects, serving, offence and defense. Colleen King and Mechell Daniels dominated the net with kills as well as all kill blocks. Libero Eleni Bitadou dominated backcourt defence allowing setter Molly Van Essen and Lois Chitticks to distribute the ball across the net.
