Tendring faced Newcastle Staffs on Saturday, November 21st. Staffs arrived game ready with a tough, 6-man squad. The first set would be a tough one as both teams battled out to a 20-20 tie. Staffs would go up 23-20 before Tendring mounted a comeback off of a Dovie block and a Kosta kill. The set would be tied 23-23 before Staffs managed to take the first set off of strong outside attacks.

Tendring men made it safely through to the quarter final of the national cup on Saturday after beating fellow division 1 team Warwick Riga 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20).

Tendring had already travelled to Riga on the first game of the season and came away with a straight sets victory so fancied their chances in this tie from the very beginning. However, this is the national cup and anything can happen!

The Tendring Ladies produced a wonderful team performance on Sunday with their win against Inter London. With every player stepping on the court for at least a set, Tendring decisively took the second round game in the in the National Volleyball League Cup. The National Cup is the prime knock out competition in the Volleyball England competition calendar. With this win the Tendring Ladies will advance to the next round of play on December 5th.

With new coach/setter Chris Teoh and libero Alex Porter coming into the team, the Lions were confident heading into their second game of the Essex League season.  A nervy start to the first set meant neither side could pull away until, with Chelmsford ahead 5:7, strong serving from James Chapman took Tendring into a 12:7 lead, aided by good attacking play from Rob Sharman through the middle and Alan Kempen on the outside.  Whenever Chelmsford got a point, the defending from Aaron Jones and Porter denied Chelmsford any opportunity to get a run of serve going. The Lions reached 19:11 before Warren Brown came on in place of Kempen, immediately showing his credentials by powering a shot down the line for another point.  Bradley Forsyth, hitting reverse, provided a very useful third option to take advantage of Chris Teoh’s setting.  Doug Garner then came on in place of Teoh, allowing Tendring to close out the first set 25:16.
